Theme Ideas for Your Baby's First Birthday Party

I have a lot of ideas rattling around in my head...
Back to school
Most of you are celebrating the first birthday of your baby, and sending her to school is the farthest thing from your mind.  But for me, mom of three girls ages three through eight, today is a wonderful day.

My oldest started third grade and my six year old started first.  They are at different schools this year, which complicates things quite a bit, but we'll manage.  And my "baby" has her first day of Montessori next Monday.  What a big transitional year for all of us!

Summer is always such a mixed bag.  We enjoy the lazy mornings and easy evenings.  We aren't slaves to homework, bedtime, or schedules.  We are also faced with BOREDOM, too much togetherness, and a lack of structure.  It's always good to have a break, and always good to return to the routine.  I guess the higher ups know what they're doing.

So we've had our fill of going to the lake, the pool, and the park, and now we begin tests, after school snacks, and projects.  The kids are armed with new backpacks and new shoes and they're off!  It's going to be a great nine months...until May when we cheer the return of lazy mornings, lake trips, and chillin' at the pool.

Site Manager - Melanie When it comes to first birthday parties, I'm a true expert in the field! I have three curly-headed little girls and have thrown two of them really great first birthday parties. There's a story behind the missing party...maybe I'll share someday!

I'm a writer/editor in Austin, Texas and in my spare time I loooove throwing parties - just ask my poor husband! Fortunately for me, I have lots of friends who love to come over, hang out, and enjoy the fruits of my party planning labor!
