Theme Ideas for Your Baby's First Birthday Party

I have a lot of ideas rattling around in my head...
First birthday, third child
My good friend from college has three gorgeous kids: two lovely little girls and a bouncing baby boy.  That little boy recently turned one, and watching the pomp and circumstance of this little one's first birthday made me realize a few things.

  1. A first birthday is a special occasion whether you're on baby number one or baby number eighteen.  Each precious child deserves her own first birthday celebration!
  2. Subsequent one year old children always seem so much younger and smaller than previous one year old children.  Why is that?  A firstborn seems practically worldly at age one, but compare your memories to your current one year old and marvel at their differences.
  3. Baby boy cakes are seriously adorable!

Look at his little face!  Just wait til he gets his hands on that blue icing...

Anyway, seeing my friend celebrate her little boy's first birthday with as much gusto as her older girls' birthdays confirmed my belief that each first birthday is a milestone worthy of a par-tay!  It is true that the baby of the family inevitably gets away with more, has greater freedom, and experiences things at an earlier age, but its certainly not because we love them less.

We're just tired.

I had my daughter's 5th birthday here last weekend and was thrilled. Daria and her team do everything to make a party extra-special. http://fairiesanddragonsparties.com "fairies" tell incredible stories and engage the children in a way that they were all captivated. They are proactive and professional.

Site Manager - Melanie When it comes to first birthday parties, I'm a true expert in the field! I have three curly-headed little girls and have thrown two of them really great first birthday parties. There's a story behind the missing party...maybe I'll share someday!

I'm a writer/editor in Austin, Texas and in my spare time I loooove throwing parties - just ask my poor husband! Fortunately for me, I have lots of friends who love to come over, hang out, and enjoy the fruits of my party planning labor!
