John Deere Birthday Cake Ideas

John Deere Birthday Cake Ideas :
Whether your little boy is a city kid who dreams of life on a farm or he's a country boy who couldn't be prouder, give him an awesome homemade John Deere birthday cake for his farm-themed party. John Deere company manufactures farm equipment, and its green and yellow logo is hard to miss. Use these three John Deere birthday cake ideas to jumpstart your own imagination.

Working on the Farm

Use a frosted sheet cake to create a John Deere scene. Frost a 9x13-inch cake, half in green and half in light "dirt" brown. On the green side, create a little farm scene with a pond and flowers, as well as plastic farm animals behind little plastic fences. On the brown side, use your cake frosting tubes to pipe in rows of ripe green crops ready to harvest. Place a toy John Deere tractor and harvester on the field so it looks as if the driver just paused for a break.

Tractor Cake

Make a 3-D tractor cake using a layering technique. Use two bread pans and four donuts to make the body. The larger cake loaf forms the body of the tractor, while the smaller loaf stacks up to make the cab (trim as needed). Frost with white buttercream frosting. Set up the donut "wheels" on each side--two in front and two in the rear. Use green, yellow and brown frosting in cake decorating tubes to fill in the tractor details. Add foil coins as headlamps and other candy details as needed.

John Deere Freehand

Print out a picture of a John Deere tractor or an enlarged picture of the logo from clip art. Frost a 9x13-inch cake with a neutral color, such as white or light yellow. Gently place the paper on top of the cake, then puncture the paper with an embroidery needle, piercing through to the frosting. When you remove the paper, the pattern will be visible in the frosting. Decorate the image using various colors of frosting and cake decorating tubes with different tips. Don't forget to write "Happy Birthday" to the lucky boy.

Site Manager - Melanie When it comes to first birthday parties, I'm a true expert in the field! I have three curly-headed little girls and have thrown two of them really great first birthday parties. There's a story behind the missing party...maybe I'll share someday!

I'm a writer/editor in Austin, Texas and in my spare time I loooove throwing parties - just ask my poor husband! Fortunately for me, I have lots of friends who love to come over, hang out, and enjoy the fruits of my party planning labor!
