How to Make Birthday Invitations on Photoshop 7.0 : Overview : Create a custom birthday invitation in Photoshop 7.0
With the wide availability of powerful graphics programs like Photoshop 7.0, you don't need to purchase expensive invitation cards for your party. With a computer, printer and the Photoshop 7.0 application, anyone can easily create a unique birthday invitation that is customized specifically for your particular event. Photoshop provides extensive color, image and filtering tools that make it simple for you to design a personal invitation that transforms a birthday into a truly special occasion.

Step 1

Open Photoshop. Go to "File" in the top navigation menu and select "New."

Step 2

In the "New" dialog box that pops up, enter a file name for your birthday invitation. Enter a width of 6 inches and a height of 4 inches. This will create a postcard or photo size invitation. Click the "Background Contents" drop-down menu and select "Transparent." Click "OK."

Step 3

Decide on a background color for your invitation. If you know the RGB number of the color you wish to use, you can enter it directly in the "Color" panel. If you prefer to pick a color from a visual palette, click the "Swatches" panel and click the color you want to use as the background of your birthday invitation.

Step 4

Select the "Paint bucket" tool in the "Tools" panel and click on your file. The background should now change to your chosen color.

Step 5

Go to "File" on the navigation menu and select "Open." Locate the image file of the person who is having the birthday and click "Open." Go to the "Layers" panel and double-click the "Background" layer to unlock it. Select the "Move" tool in the "Tools" panel and drag the photo to your birthday invitation file. Click ctrl+T (or cmd+T for Mac) to resize your photo file to fit your invitation. Use the "Move" tool again to drag the photo to the location you want on your invitation.

Step 6

Add the text for your birthday invitation. Go to the "Layers" panel and click the "New Layer" button on the lower right corner of the panel. Select the "Text" tool in the "Tools" panel. Drag your mouse over the area of the invitation where you would like to insert your text. Enter your invitation text. Select your text and go to the text tool options menu, located at the top of Photoshop, just under the main navigation. Choose the font type, style, size and color of your text.

Step 7

When you are satisfied with your invitation, go to "File" and select "Print." Print your invitation on to postcard paper or 4-by-6 inch photo paper.
