How to Decorate With Crepe Paper : Overview
No matter whether you are decorating for a birthday party, shower, or a holiday, crepe paper is an inexpensive but festive decoration to use. Available in a multitude of colors, the use of crepe paper is only limited by your imagination.

Step 1

Choose colors. When decorating for a party, choose colors that coordinate with the party's theme. Traditionally, when decorating an "over the hill" birthday party, black and white crepe paper is used.

Step 2

Secure the ends. Wrap the ends of each roll of color with tape in effort to make the ends more durable.

Step 3

Twist. Secure the end of the roll to the wall with a tack. Twist the roll loosely until you reach the desired length of streamer. If you want to create a two-toned streamer, tape two colors together before twisting.

Step 4

Hang. In a swag style, hang the twisted streamers from the ceiling, placing a tack every few feet to form the swag design.

Step 5

Make waving streamers. If you will be needing fans to cool off the event, disguise them by tying strips of crepe paper to the fan's grill. When the fan is on, the crepe paper streamers will dance in the breeze.

TIPS AND WARNINGS

  • TIP : If the paper tears, simply patch it up with a piece of translucent tape.

I'm a writer/editor in Austin, Texas and in my spare time I loooove throwing parties - just ask my poor husband! Fortunately for me, I have lots of friends who love to come over, hang out, and enjoy the fruits of my party planning labor!
