Birthday PartyJohn Deere is synonymous with big farm equipment and machinery. So, if your little boy loves playing with tractors or playing farmer, a John Deere-themed birthday party may be the way to go.
Make Invitations
Send out invitations for your John Deere birthday party. They can be elaborate or simple. You may even want to ask your child to help. You can find photos of tractors in a magazine and trace the outline to a regular sheet of paper and ask your child to cut out and color. You can do the same with barns. Of you want to keep it simple, buy a basic invitation and decorate it with animal stickers.
Decorate with Flair
Decorate with green and yellow--the John Deere colors. Buy napkins, plates and streamers in these colors. If the party is outside, scatter some hay and pumpkins around to give the area a more farm-like effect. Place large plastic tractors and trucks around the area for kids to play with.
Dress Up
When your guests arrive, give them each a bandanna to wear. You may also suggest on the invitations that they dress up like farmers (think denim overalls) and wear John Deere hats or big straw hats.
Play Farm Games
Games should center on farm activities. Adjust traditional party games to be barn-themed, such as "pin the tail on the farmer" or duck-duck-cow. Consider a make-a-scarecrow contest. Square dancing is also appropriate; have kids follow the directions of an adult as she shouts out moves to make. Stick a picture of a farm animal to each child's back and have the children give each other clues about the animal so they can guess. For instance, if a child has a picture of a pig stuck to his back, the other children can give him clues such as "you are pink" and "you like the mud."
Serve Refreshments
Serve banana milk shakes or brown cows (this is simply chocolate milk). The cake should consist of a farm theme. Start with a sheet cake; use green frosting for the grass and add some miniature items, such as plastic animals and farmers. Make sure the candles on the cake are yellow and green. Food like corn on the cob, hot dogs and French fries would be appropriate. Cut up veggies and serve with ranch dressing. Line them up on a platter so they resemble rows of crops on a farm. Make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and use animal-shaped cookie cutters to make barnyard shapes, such as horses and cows.
