Birthday PartySummer is an ideal time to have a birthday party because there are so many options for venues and activities. A summer party can be effectively geared toward both adults and children and allow everyone to participate in activities they enjoy.
Food
There are a number of options for food at a summer party, but the most popular is barbecuing. Hamburgers and hot dogs are relatively inexpensive and don't require a lot of prep or slaving away in the kitchen while the party is going on. If you don't have a grill or don't want to barbecue, sandwiches, either premade or in the form of a sandwich bar, are also popular, easy options. Finger foods, such as vegetables and dip, chips and small appetizers, are also easy to prepare and eat in an outdoor setting. All these options boast easy cleanup as well.
Go Outside
Summer birthday parties have many great options for themes since you can be outdoors. A bug party can involve a real bug hunt around the yard, or a beach party can incorporate swim gear, wading pools and sprinklers. Real tiki torches and hanging lights would set the mood for a Hawaiian luau. Party games held outside can be somewhat messier than those planned for indoor parties and party activities, such as T-shirt painting or other crafting, require less preparation and cleanup.
Pick a Venue
Although outdoors is an easy option for a summer party, you don't have to stop with your own backyard. Theme parks, water parks and city parks will often allow you to rent or reserve a bowery or designated party spot. This party option is probably the easiest since you are hosting it where the entertainment is already worked out. Ask about group rates and allow that to help you determine how many people to invite.
