Summer in December Birthday Party Ideas

Summer in December Birthday Party Ideas :
When your child's birthday is in December, but you prefer a summer theme and feel, what do you do? Getting around that cold weather and making it feel as if it is the middle of July may be tough. With these ideas, though, anyone can have a summer in December birthday party.

Pool Party

Local hotels and other establishments often have an indoor heated pool for guests to use during their stay. Many hotels will also allow people to pay a fee and obtain a membership to the pool. There may be an additional charge, but many hotels will allow you to book a pool party. The pool room will feel like a warm summer day, perfect for swimming. Dress up the tables and chairs will make a Hawaii feel to add more of that summery effect.

At Home

Turn up the heat a little to make the house feel like a warm summer day. Have everyone coming wear shorts and t-shirts, or tank tops. Have the children make fans out of copy paper and decorate them for a fun summer activity. Provide summer food, such as fruit and barbeque sandwiches. If you have a grill and a porch, you could even make your party food on the grill, making it feel more like summer with every bite. Providing fruit juice, such as pineapple juice, with little umbrellas will make it feel even more like summer.

Indoor Fishing

For a child's birthday party, you could let them go fishing indoors. Many retailers have plastic fishing sets available in the toy aisle. They include plastic fishing rods and fish, each with a magnet on the end to catch the fish. Fill a bathtub, a whirlpool, or a small plastic swimming pool with water. Allow the children a specific period to catch as many fish as they can while only using the supplied fishing rods. Add a little more excitement to the indoor fishing fun by putting special marks on the fish. Each mark could be worth a specific prize, or the prize could go to the child that was able to catch the most fish.

Restaurant

Larger local restaurants or hotel may provide a meeting room or a ballroom that you could rent for a birthday party. Decorate the room with bright Hawaiian decorations. Provide leis, pineapple juice, drink umbrellas, potato or macaroni salad, cold cuts, or other summer picnic food. Invite everyone to wear a Hawaiian shirt or shorts. If the room is cold and does not add any summer effect, ask if you can bring with a small electric heater to make it feel like a warm summer day.

Basement

If you have the space of a large basement, try holding the party there. If the floor is cement, you could supply sidewalk chalk to any children present. Many outdoor games could be played in an unfinished basement without worrying about any damage. This is a great location for wild decorations, hopscotch, bobbing for apples, jump rope, dancing, and even a disc jockey. Throw some yellow sheets or table cloths over the furniture and tables, supply lawn chairs and sunglasses, and you could even have the children make decorations to hang over the blinds that make it look like the sun is shining into the room.
