What Kind Decorations Can Be Used for a Birthday Box? : Overview
Part of the fun of being invited to a birthday party is shopping for the perfect gift that you know will delight your friend on her special day. As an extra-special touch, wrap it in a birthday box. There are a number of lovely, lively ways you can decorate a birthday box . With just a little bit of creativity, you can surprise and enchant your friend with this unique gift presentation.

Wrapping Paper

Wrapping paper is the traditional way to decorate a birthday box. The paper does not have to be plain or boring, however. Choose a colorful themed paper from a retail store like Target to wrap your gift. You could also choose to cover the box in simply and elegantly with gold or silver paper. Or create your own birthday paper by wrapping the gift in plain brown paper that you buy at the post office or a store like CVS and add a personal touch or with markers, crayons or paint. You could also go to your local craft store, buy a rubber stamp in a balloon, flower or heart motif and an ink pad, and stamp away.

Ribbon

Add another decorative element of your gift box is ribbon. Choose a ribbon color that either contrasts or complements the wrapping paper. Tie the ribbon around the box horizontally and vertically so it intersect in the center of the box. Tie a knot to secure the ribbon. Next, tie several long pieces of ribbon to the intersected pieces on the top of the box. Use the sharp inside edge of a pair of scissors to make the ribbon curl. Run the edge gently along the ribbon until it curls and bounces. Continue this process with as many pieces of ribbon as you choose.

Bows

Top your birthday box with a decorative bow or other kind of flourish. Birthday bows, also available at Target and CVS, come in a variety of color and sizes. You could also gently tie on a silk flower, fresh rose or a few gerbera daisies. If her birthday is close to a holiday, then of course tie on a few pieces of chocolate in February, tape a packet of flower or vegetable seeds in March, or sprig or two of holly in December.

Stickers

Use stickers to add a personal touch to a plain shirt box. Stationery and craft stores sell all sorts of sparkly and bright stickers such as stars, hearts and balloons. You also could use letter stickers to spell out happy birthday to your friend.

Toy

Attach a toy to the outside of the gift birthday box to give your friend a hint of what is inside. If you have a box of coloring books, secure some crayons to the outside of the box with ribbon or tape.
