Party FavorsBirthday parties can be a lot of fun for both the birthday child and all of his friends. For parents, though, birthday parties for children can represent a large expense. One of the costlier parts of a child's birthday party can be the purchasing of party favors for each child at the party. To cut down on the expense of a birthday party, there are ways to create birthday party favors that are free, and can even involve the children in creating these favors during the party.
Name Tags
During the party, have each child create his own name tag to wear at the party. Have them do this when they first arrive. Create stations at tables in the room where there is glitter, stickers, magic markers and small strips of construction paper. Have each child write his name on the name tag. With parental help, trace it with glue, and let the children cover the glue with glitter. Decorate the name tag with stickers. Let each child wear his name tag when it dries, and take it home as a party favor.
Paper Medals or Ribbons
Create prize ribbons like those given away at fairs, or medals with string to attach them around the winner's neck. These ribbons can say something like "winner," or "first place," "second place," and "third place." The children can wear them as they win their ribbons or medals during the games at the party, and take them home as party favors.
Digitial Photographs
Children enjoy remembering parties that they have attended with their friends. Take a variety of photographs during the party. Print these out before the end of the party on your computer. Place all the photographs on a table before the children leave. Let them each choose at least one to take with them as a memory of the party. Some examples of photographs could be each child with the birthday child, group photographs, and photographs of each child taking part in the games.
