Party FavorsWhen your child has a first or second birthday, most of the birthday guests will be other babies about the same age. After you've chosen the party theme, decorations and even the cake, don't forget to pick appropriate party favors. Many commercial party favors are not age appropriate for babies, so take the time to make personalized birthday party favors for babies that they will love.
Personalized Shirts
Use fabric paint, iron-ons and other decorative materials to make personalized party favors for babies. Put each child's name on a shirt, along with a decoration. You could choose to incorporate the party theme in the shirt as well, such as a bug for a garden party theme. Each child's shirt could also have a different flower or type of construction vehicle, in addition to a name.
Piggy Bank
Give each child a glass or plastic piggy bank that's been personalized with non-toxic paint. It's a fun way for toddlers to start learning about the value of money, and they'll love to recognize their own name on the side. Give them a head start and put a few pennies in it. This party favor goes well with a farm or Old McDonald birthday party theme.
Water Globe Favors
From a party store, purchase plastic water globes that allow you to put a snapshot inside. At the party, take pictures of each baby and print them out with a desktop photo printer. Trim to fit and insert the baby's photo in the water globe. The babies will delight in seeing a familiar baby face, and the swirling glitter will keep them busy on the ride home from the party. Make sure each globe is tightly sealed.
