Kids love going to the beach on summer vacations with their families, or any time the weather is warm enough. There are plenty of activities to do at the beach--and of course, plenty of food to eat, too. If you are looking to have a beach-themed party for your child and his friends, you have a lot of choices of food to make available.
Hot Dogs and Hamburgers
The beach is all about comfort food, and that's especially true for kids. Two of the classic foods are hamburgers and hot dogs. Cook these for the kids, put out a couple of types of cheese, and create a toppings bar with ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, pickles, onions and tomatoes. The kids will love building their own hamburgers and hot dogs.
Pizza
Have you ever looked along the boardwalk at the beach and counted the number of pizza vendors? They rival the junk T-shirt shops for sheer numbers. Order some pizza for the children attending your beach-themed party and save yourself the cooking.
Cotton Candy
Other than the circus, one of the most popular places to find cotton candy is at the beach on the boardwalk. Contact party vendors in your area about renting a cotton-candy machine, and offer it to the kids as a dessert.
Ice Cream
Create your own little sundae bar for the kids at your beach-themed party. Give each child a scoop or two of ice cream and let her top it herself with hot fudge, caramel, sprinkles, cherries and whipped cream.
Funnel Cake
The adults will have to prepare the funnel cakes for the children, but allow the kids to top them with sugar, chocolate sauce and fruit toppings. (This might not be feasible for parties with a large number of children, and you might not want to do it for children younger than 7, because of the risks associated with hot oil.)
