Party ThemesOne of Disney's most popular princesses is Cinderella. Her castle is the symbol for the Disney theme parks and the dream home of little girls all over the world. While you may not be able to give them a castle, you can certainly bring the world of Cinderella into their lives with a Cinderella-themed birthday party.
Pumpkin Decorating
If your child has an autumn birthday, this craft is perfect for the birthday party. Cinderella traveled to the ball in the magical pumpkin carriage, and the party guests can recreate the carriage with their own mini pumpkins. Provide pre-carved pumpkins and plenty of decorating tools, such as glue, gems, glitter and ribbon, so the girls can make their own fancy rides. Use cutout pieces of cardboard and pipe cleaners to create the wheels.
Glass Slipper Musical Chairs
Gather a collection of fancy high-heeled shoes and pretend they are glass slippers. Set up an arrangement of musical chairs, and place a glass slipper in front of each one. Play music. When the music stops, the girls must run to a chair, sit down and place a shoe on their foot. Repeat until there is one girl left, who will win a toy Cinderella glass slipper.
Make a Wish
Create a Fairy Godmother wish basket, and fill it with simple wishes you can accomplish for the party guests. For example, the wishes could say, "You receive a Cinderella crown" or "You receive an extra piece of cake." Have each guest pick out her wish. Grant everyone's wish.
The Royal Dance
Cinderella's big moment came when she arrived for the royal dance. Stage your own royal dance. Decorate a basement or living room with royal ribbons, balloons and other decorations. Have the guests dress up for the ball and dance the night away. Include snack trays, Disney princess-themed music, and fun dance activities, such as the "YMCA" song or the bunny hop.
Dress-Up Race
Cinderella had to rush to be home by midnight, so plan a dress-up race for your little princesses. Gather play clothes such as dresses, jewelry and fake crowns. Create two sets and put them on opposite sides of the room. Split up the guests, and have them run from side to side, putting on the clothes, running to a teammate, taking off the clothes and having the next person put them on. The first team to complete the race wins.
