Construction Themed Birthday Party Ideas

Construction Themed Birthday Party Ideas :
Dump trucks, cement mixers and backhoes fascinate many little boys, so incorporate construction equipment into a memorable birthday party theme. The decorations, food and activities are simple to do and these construction themed birthday party ideas will have your little builder and his friends excited from the start of the party until it's time to go home.

Decorations

Prepare the front door with construction tape and some signs that read "Construction Zone" and "Workers Only." Line the sidewalk with orange cones. In the party zone, use bright yellow streamers and yellow and black balloon clusters to provide colorful and festive atmosphere. For the wall, enlarge construction sign clip art for an authentic look. A centerpiece can consist of some toy construction trucks with plastic wrapped rice crispy "rocks." Wrap each guest's chair with more construction tape and give the birthday boy his own dollar store construction helmet to wear (decorated with his age in glitter paint).

Food

Serve snacks like popcorn and chips in the lined bed of toy dump trucks from the dollar store. Use upturned plastic construction hats as bowls for trail mix and breadsticks. Let kids "construct" their own food snacks, such as build your own English muffin pizzas, decorate sugar cookies or see who can build the tallest sandwich. Drinks can be chocolate milk, juice packs or fizzy sodas in their own cans. For an authentic touch, prepare a "lunch box" ahead of time for each child to eat when it's time for a lunch break, just like real workers.

Activities

Teamwork and building shape the types of games played at a construction themed birthday party. Divide into groups and have teams build the tallest structure out of household goods (empty coffee cans, straws, paper cups, empty 2-liter bottles). Do relays where team members must empty one bucket of sand into another using a teaspoon. Have guests "dig" for a trinket buried in a pile of whipped cream using only their mouth.
