Party ThemesA child's first birthday party is cause to celebrate. The classic photo of the one year old's face covered with cake is a part of this party. The child will not be involved in the party at this age. Instead it is a social event that allows the parents of the child to invite other family members and maybe some close friends. A theme is not necessary for a one year old's party, and keep in mind the children at that age will not interact very much with each other during the party.
Circus
The circus is an event that children can enjoy at any age. It is also entertaining for adults and older children who may be attending. Enjoy the animals, clowns, and, in some cases, motorcycles. If the environment becomes too overwhelming, take the child out into the lobby area away from the entertainment.
Country Club Or Lodge
If either of the parents are members of either a country club or a meeting lodge, they might be able to get access to a large room at a reasonable price. This will reduce the amount of preparation the parents have to do for the party, especially if the country club or lodge will cater the child's birthday as well. This will also give you the opportunity to entertain more guests than a home, especially in the cold weather months of the year.
The Beach
At one year old your child will be very inquisitive and explorative as she starts to become more mobile. The beach can be a lot of fun with sand to play in and people to watch. Along with this, there is the ocean. You might want to find an area where a ponding of water forms on the beach away from the ocean itself, known as a gully, for the young children to play in. At the beach you could do a picnic theme for food served at the birthday party.
