Princess Tea Party Ideas

Princess Tea Party Ideas :
Every little girl is a princess, but to truly bring out your daughter's inner royalty, host a princess tea party. From age 3 to 8, most little girls play, dream and dress up as princesses, whether they are from storybooks or just the imagination. A princess tea party is the perfect way for little girls to feel pretty, enjoy friendships and play dress-up. Here are some princess tea party ideas that work with just about any age group.

Dress-Up

No princess would be caught dead at a tea party without dressing in her finest gown and jewels. On the invitations, invite guests to arrive in full princess attire. It's a good idea to have some extra skirts and capes on hand, as well as some plastic or costume jewelry, so that the guests can spend some time primping. Play makeup is also a fun touch, with child-friendly eye shadow, rouge and lip gloss. Body glitter will make little girls look as if they've been dusted with magic powder from a fairy godmother's wand.

Food and Drink

A tea party is all about little delightful goodies and plates full of sweet treats. Serve little meat-and-cheese sandwiches cut into shapes using cookie cutters (no crust, of course). Try mini cupcakes with pink frosting, cups of fruit salad, carrot sticks and dip, frosted sugar cookies, cheese and apple pieces speared with toothpicks, and jam tarts. For a drink, serve up pink lemonade, strawberry milk, raspberry tea or mint tea in a collection of elegant teacups from the local thrift store or flea market (send teacups home as a party favor).

Activities

A princess has so much to do at a tea party. Play "Kiss the Frog" by hanging up a large drawing of a frog, then letting each girl apply lipstick and try to kiss the frog on the lips while blindfolded. Let girls decorate a crown to take home as a party favor. Play "Pass the Poisoned Apple" instead of "Hot Potato" and hold teacup relays. Put on dancing music and blow bubbles while the little princesses whirl and twirl. Set out beads and string so girls can make custom jewelry pieces to take home.

I'm a writer/editor in Austin, Texas and in my spare time I loooove throwing parties - just ask my poor husband! Fortunately for me, I have lots of friends who love to come over, hang out, and enjoy the fruits of my party planning labor!
