Party ThemesStar Wars has been popular for over thirty years now and, if anything, it is more pervasive than ever. Older generations as well as kids enjoy the movies and characters, and they lend themselves well to a theme party. Most party stores have many accessories with Star Wars decorations, from cups and plates to banners and favors. You will need some Star Wars-related games to create a complete experience.
Says Yoda
This is similar to Simon Says, except a bit more difficult. Have all the party guests line up for game of Simon Says, but have Simon wear a Yoda mask and call out in Yoda's particular style of speaking: "Hand put on your shoulder, says Yoda." What makes Says Yoda so much fun is the added difficulty of figuring out what you're supposed to do.
Death Star Cake
Although it may sound difficult, making a Death Star cake is within the limits of many amateur bakers. Just get one of those molds that allow the baking of a round cake and then decorate according to a photo of the Death Star. Check out the link in the Resources section to get started.
Character Themes
One way to bring a Star Wars party to life is to send out invitations indicating costuming themes. With so many Star Wars Halloween costumes, it is entirely possible to have many of the most popular characters arrive in costume. Or, you might suggest a theme that lends itself to games: Jedi v. Sith, or Rebels v. Empire.
Star Wars Charades
Charades is always a fun game to play, and Star Wars introduces a host of potential topics. Imagine how much fun it will be to watch as people try to mime names like Chewbacca or Jar Jar Binks, or famous elements of the movies like pod races the duel of the fates.
Who Wants to Be a Jedi
Play a game of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" using only Star Wars related questions. Include lifelines like asking a friend and 50/50. The prizes can be one of the many Star Wars toys and products like a light saber or Star Wars Lego video games.
1970s Party
For adults, a Star Wars party can be thematic heart of an entire 1970s party. The essence of the party could mimic the bar on Tattooine where Luke and Obi-Wan meet Han Solo, but allow the adults to show up dressed as any 1970s icon and play 1970s music alongside the disco version of the Star Wars theme.
